This drawing instrument is commonly used to reproduce plans and schemes to different scales. It is really beautiful and comes into a nice wooden case, preserving all its original accessories. The pantograph is made of golden brass and the case where it can be stored is made of solid mahogany wood, highly beautiful and elegant.This instrument was manufactured by W. F. Stanley and we can read so in the label stack to the inside of the cases lid. The initials stand for William Ford Robinson Stanley, a British engineer and inventor born in 1829. He had 78 patents filed both in the United Kingdom and the USA. He manufactured precision drawing and mathematical instruments, and also surveying devices and telescopes. All these products were manufactured by his company, William Ford Stanley & Co. This pantograph is a good example of the quality of the instruments made by the firm, and also of its durability and attractive.Inside the case, perfectly stored into their corresponding compartments, we can find different accessories needed to use the pantograph: black graphite lead, pointers, templates and strings. There is also a triangular black base where the instrument is inserted. The graphite leads come in two cases with the manufacturers name printed on them, A. W. FABER. In the label stack to the inside of the lid, bright yellow in color, we can read the name of this beautiful pantographs manufacturer, with an inscription describing him as Optical, Philosophical and Mathematical Instrument Manufacturer.This pantograph is a great example of the quality of drawing instruments from the late 19th century.
