Beautiful English Pocket Watch in Solid Silver. With Key and Chain. Year 1885

Stylish and fine English pocket watch made of engraved solid silver in 1885. This delicate watch is in very good condition and looks as beautiful and elegant as when it was made, more than one hundred and fifty years ago. The silver box boasts a wonderful hand-engraved decoration and so does the rear cap. On the other hand, the face is white and has a lovely hand painted motive in the center: a garland of flowers and leafs surrounding the place where the handles are screwed. This details and the silver boxs engraved decoration make up a singularly attractive piece, full of antique charm.The glass cap that protects the watchs face is in perfect condition and can be lifted to let us reach the handles. These pieces are made of blue enameled metal and point to elegant black Roman numbers. The hand painted garland that embellishes the faces center is performed with lovely colors: blue, pinks, green, black and ochre. These colors shape a series of skillfully painted flowers. This motive is a real miniature whose small size turns it into an even more attractive detail. The rear cap is a true display of engraved motives. Around the central shield, usually designed for the owner to engrave his or her name or initials (or maybe a dedicatory), we can see a circular fringe decorated with volutes and flowers. Surrounding it we can see another fringe engraved with a geometrical pattern. Inside the rear cap there are several hallmarks that tell us the place where the watch was made (the anchor, for example, corresponds to Birmingham) and the serial number 40529. Inside the rear cap we find again the same hallmarks and number, and there is another one in the piece that connects the box with the crown and the ring.The beauty of this fine silver pocket watch and its perfect working order turn it into the perfect gift.
