Beautiful Longines Pocket Watch in Solid Silver. Circa 1920, Signed and Countersigned.

This impressive embossed silver pocket watch was made by prestigious company Longines, a Swiss luxury and sports watches house. This particular watch is a real beauty thanks to its solid silver box and caps, fully engraved with nice symmetrical motives. This item is in quite good working order and its movement has been carefully cleaned and adjusted so nowadays it works perfectly. In spite of the decades that have past by since it was manufactured, this watch is still a highly beautiful and interesting piece.Longines house was founded in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz in Saint-Imier (Switzerland), and its logo, a winged hourglass, is the oldest registered for a watchmaker. Logines watches were used in the first modern day Olympics for taking times in competition, and they also were part of the first North Pole expeditions. Today the brand is owned by powerful Swiss Swatch Group. If we take a look at the white face with Arab numbers, we will find the name Longines printed on the background. It also has a secondary hand and beautiful coppery hands, nicely filigree-shaped.As stated before, the silver cap that protects the face is profusely engraved with stylized classic vegetal-inspired motives that surround a flat shield. The rear cap boasts a similar decoration, with no shield in this case. Both are engraved inside with the name and logo of the company, marks that guarantee the silvers quality and serial number 1945319. The watch has hallmarks in all its parts, and the dustcap boasts an engraving with different medals that the brand was awarded in expositions and events.
