English Silver Clock, 1857

This wonderful pocket watch has all the features needed to be considered a real antique jewel. With an elegant design, it dates from 1857 and was manufactured by Adam Burdess in England. It is made of sterling silver and has hallmarks in some parts that testify for its origin, date and quality. The Roman numbers that we can see on its face are made of gold. The watch is in very good condition and works perfectly, having been fully cleaned and adjusted. It keeps all its original components, including the delicate key designed to wind it up and set the hands.As well as the gold numbers, the face boasts a lot of small gilded silver decorative details that provide the watch with a deep romantic beauty. At the bottom we can see the typical secondary hand. The front cap is made of glass while the rear cap is made of hand-engraved sterling silver. The metal is decorated with an intricate floral motive that covers most of its surface. The engraving shows sure and dynamic strokes that reveal an excellent artist. Over the rear cap, the piece that grabs the ring bears two hallmarks engraved in the metal. If we lift this cap we will find the same hallmarks together with the serial number 22492 and the initials AJW.The front cap can also be lifted so we can reach the face and set the hands with the key. The movement can be removed and is composed of small golden metal components and gears, some of which have been profusely hand-engraved with flowery and diamond motives. The movement is signed: it bears the engraved name of the watchmaker, Adam Burdess and the word COVENTRY, corresponding to the so-called English city. The serial number 22492 that we discovered inside the rear cap is also engraved in the movement.This amazing antique pocket watch is a jewel full of aesthetic interest whose beauty will not be unnoticed by those who can appreciate quality pieces.Measurements: Width: 49 mm.
