Silver Niello Clock, 1930s

This curious and beautiful nielloed silver pocket watch is a very original and elegant article. The watch dates from the 1930s and in spite of being very old it is quite well preserved. Its movement has been fully cleaned and fine-tuned it order to guarantee a perfect operation. So this watch is not only a classy piece but is also a fully functional and practical item. It is composed of different sterling silver parts with hallmarks in them: we can see these details in the piece that joins the crown and the box, and also inside the dustcap.The watchs face is very original and its design turns this article into a very special piece. It is light golden and has golden metal Arab numbers, and also a secondary hand. But the most relevant feature is surely the curious design of the golden metal hands: they are zigzag shaped, creating a snake-like design quite attractive and rare. The face is in excellent condition and its design is still modern and contemporary. It has a printed logo with a 3 number into a diamond.Inside the dustcap we find various hallmarks and inscriptions related to the watch. As well as the silver proportion (0,800) we can also see two hallmarks: to the left, the classic capercaillie that usually marks Swiss sterling silver: and to the right, a hallmark with a moon and a crown. Under these marks we can see the serial number 94901 engraved in the metal. The dustcap covers and protects a delicate movement in perfect condition and working order: all its component parts are original. One of them bears the engraved logo with the diamond and the 3 that was also printed in the face. In this case it is on top of an engraved cipher: 56.This original nielloed silver watch is a very special item because of its ancient age, beauty and original quality.
