Solid Gold Clock, 1890s

This lovely 14k gold pocket watch is a piece that comes from Switzerland and was made in 1890. It is a real jewel, not only because of the noble metal its box is made of but also for its great look and hand-engraved decoration. The watch is in great condition, almost impeccable except for the very slight bump that can be noted at the top, to the left of the crown. This small detail, though, can be quite easily mended. The rest of the box is in excellent condition and the same can be said about the movement that has been revised and cleansed so the watch works like new.The gold box is profusely decorated with hand-engraved motives and fringes. The part the surrounds the face boasts fine geometrical designs delicately performed. The rear cap bears a flat shield surrounded by an engraved frame of flowers, leaves and volutes. The decoration is extremely beautiful and special. The watchs face is white and bears black Roman numbers and secondary hand. The hands are composed of slim volutes and filigrees, creating a smart and aristocratic effect. Over the watchs face, the piece that connects the crown with the box bears the Swiss gold hallmark.If we lift the rear cap, inside we will find again this hallmark together with the inscription 14K. Just below rests the watchs serial number, 41112, engraved over the number 8. The dustcap bears a French inscription that describes the watchs movement and also the serial number together with the word METAL indicating that this cap is not made of gold. Under it we find the movement composed of delicate pieces and gears in perfect working order.
