Elegant Swiss Solid Silver Pocket Watch. Manufactured Circa 1900. Working

This extremely beautiful pocket watch is more than one hundred years old and is a fine article, precise and in good condition. It was made in Switzerland for the German market and has survived to our days in excellent condition. The movement has been revised and fine-tuned so the watch works perfectly. The box combines gold-plated and regular silver, a nice combination that turns this item into an attractive accessory for any gentleman. The piece that connects the box and the crown bears a small hallmark deeply engraved in the metal. The watchs face is white and even, with fine black Arab numbers. The hands boast a classic design composed of slim metal filigree pieces that create smart volutes. The face and the hands are quite well preserved in spite of their old age. The rear cap is decorated with the classic net-shaped motive in whose center rests a nice flat shield surrounded by an oval frame. Inside this cap we can see the serial number 1178360 together with a H, engraved at the bottom. At the top we can see the silver proportion, 0,800, and a hallmark depicting a capercaillie: this mark is usually engraved in Swiss sterling silver items. In the center we can see two hallmarks to the left and a monogram with the letters IXL to the right. This monogram was once registered by two firms: the Swiss watchmakers Sign Freres SA/Eterna, and Racine, an importer from New York. The dustcaps front side is flat and the inner side bears the same hallmarks and inscriptions as the rear cap. The watchs movement shows the engraved serial number 1262842 and the word PROT into a cross. This mark was also registered by the mentioned companies, Sign Freres SA/Eterna and Racine.
