Lovely 14K Solid Gold Ladies Pocket Watch. Switzerland, Circa 1890

This fine pocket or pendant watch is a ladies piece, a lovely antique made in Switzerland for the German market circa 1890. The watch is made of 14-Carat gold and bears its corresponding hallmarks that testify for the articles quality and origin. It is in excellent condition and working order: its movement has been cleaned and fine-tuned in order to guarantee it. The watch shows a hand-engraved box with nice vegetal decoration and bears a hallmark in the piece that connects the crown and the box, and some more in the rear cap. The front cap is composed of a gold ring and the original glass that lets us see the face. The watchs face is white with delicate black Arab numbers. It has filigree hands and tiny golden details to mark the minutes. The front caps gold ring is engraved with a net background and stylized branches with leaves, creating an elegant decoration. The rear cap is embellished with the same motive and has a central flat shield designed to engrave the owners initials. Inside the cap we can see several inscriptions: a hallmark containing a squirrel (the mark of Swiss 14-Carat gold), the initials AH, the golds proportion (0.585), a hallmark with a crown and the serial number 111667. Under this cap we find the dustcap that protects the movement. Outside it bears an engraved inscription that describes the movement, and inside we find the engraved serial number and the word METAL, meaning this cap is not made of gold. The watchs movement is beautiful and precise, composed of delicate golden pieces in excellent condition. One of them is engraved with decorative details and an R letter.
