Antique 18K Gold Pocket Watch, by Hughenin & Fils, Ca. 1880s

Very beautiful Geneva pocket watch made in 18 K gold, in good condition and perfect working order. The watch was made in Switzerland circa 1880 and has been overhauled, cleaned and adjusted to ensure optimum performance. The case has three covers, all three in 18K gold and very well preserved. The design of the watch is very attractive and elegant, both in terms of the case and the beautiful dial, which combines silvered metal, gold and black enamel. The watch is signed by G. A. Huguenin & FIls and bears contrasts in different parts, attesting to the quality and provenance of the gold. The outer covers (front and back) are decorated with an oat grain guilloché engraving, very common on this type of piece. It is a fine and delicate decoration, simple and elegant. Under the front cover we find the silvered metal dial with decorative reliefs and golden applications. The numerals are Roman numerals and are enameled in black, while the hands are made of cobalt blue enameled metal. At the bottom, the dial carries a seconds hand. On the inside of the front cover we find the 18K stamp (indicating the carats) accompanied by the contrast corresponding to Swiss gold. The dust cover is signed with the name of the manufacturer and also bears the contrasts; under it, a glass cover protects the mechanism. This bears the same serial number engraved on the metal, accompanied by the signature of G. A. Huguenin. In addition, on the pendant we can see another contrast of the period. For its beautiful workmanship and its undeniable quality, this antique solid gold watch is a real jewel of the late nineteenth century. Measurements: Width: 50 mm. Height: 50 mm.
