Fine antique pocket watch with solid silver casing and hand-engraved rear cap. The watch is in wonderful working order and was made in Switzerland in the late 19th century (circa 1875). The movement has been fully overhauled and cleaned in order to provide an optimal performance. The casing or box bears hallmarks in different places that testify for the origin and quality of the noble metal. It is 800 solid silver as indicated by the number marked inside the rear cap (0,800). Moreover, the crown bears the hallmark for Swiss silver pieces, depicting a capercaillie. The watchs face is protected by a glass cap framed by a lovely fringe engraved in the silver casing. It is made of white porcelain with black Roman numbers and smaller Arab numbers for the minutes. There is a small secondary hand below. The filigree hands are made of coppery metal. The watch also preserves the original key designed to wind it up and set the time. The watchs rear cap is a lovely piece. Its outer side is engraved by hand and shows off an evocative image of a horse galloping through a rural landscape. Inside the rear cap we can see different inscriptions and marks: among them we finde a horseshoe-shaped mark with an anagram inside, the capercaillie for Swiss silver, the number 0,800 indicating the silver proportion and the serial number 585886. The dustcap that protects the movement bears the engraved inscription Cylindre 6 Rubis. It is made of silver-plated metal as indicates the word METAL engraved in its inner side. Under this word we can also see the serial number stated before. This gorgeous antique pocket watch will be the best gift for any lover of classic and stylish pieces. Measurements: Width: 45 mm.
