This lovely antique pocket watch is a solid-silver piece made in Switzerland circa 1890. Its trade mark is Phenix, a name used by a firm created by the watchmakers Dubail, Monnier and Frossard and located in Porrentruy, Switzerland. The trade mark was established in 1888 and was used by the firm together with Extra, Lutece and Rhein. This beautiful pocket watch remains in great condition and works perfectly, as it has been checked and cleaned in order to guarantee a good performance. The silver case is in good condition too, with no dents or flaws, and the same can be said about the face and the front glass cap. The face is made of white porcelain and bears black Roman numbers. The hands are made of coppery metal and show a delicate filigree design. As it is usual in these watches, there is also a secondary hand. The silver rear cap is decorated with a guilloche oat-kemel-style engraved motive with a delicate hand-engraved shield in the center. Inside we find the German silver (a half moon and a crown) and the Swiss silver (a capercaillie) hallmarks. This last one can also be seen in the piece that connects the ring and the case. Over the hallmarks we can see the brand logo: a phoenix with wings spread hovering over a bed of flames, all atop a banner with the brand name. Other marks are the silver proportion (0,800) and the serial number 17245 followed by number 71. Under this cap we find the dustcap with a hand-engraved name: Julian Websky. Inside this cap we can see again the bran logo and the serial number. As indicated by the word METAL, this piece is not made of silver but of gold- and silver-plated metal. Classic and attractive, this antique solid-silver pocket watch is a striking piece full of charm and personality. Measurements: Width: 48 mm. Height: 58 mm.
