Antique German Silver Pocket Clock, Circa 1890s

Antique pocket watch with hand-engraved solid silver case, made in Germany circa 1890 and in really good condition. The watch bears different hallmarks that testify for the silvers quality and origin. The movement has been thoroughly cleaned and overhauled in order to guarantee an optimal performance, so today the watch works perfectly. The piece that connects the crown and the case bears a hallmark with a capercaillie, the mark that identifies Swiss silver. Around the watchs face, the silver surface has been engraved by hand with a classy fringe composed of classic decorative motives (fleur-de-lis and spades). The face is protected by the original glass cap; it is white and bears black Roman numbers. It has a secondary hand and golden filigree main hands, all of them in excellent condition. The rear cap is made of lean silver, with no decoration at all; inside it bears the capercaillie hallmark and a mark with a half moon and a crown, corresponding to German silver. We can also see the serial number 69181 2. The dustcap bears an engraved French inscription with details about the watch movement. Among them, it says that it contains 15 rubies. Together with the hallmarks stated before, the watch case also bears a mark indicating the silver proportion (0,800) and the silversmiths hallmark: the letters P & M inside a rectangle. As sober as timeless, this antique silver pocket watch is full of character, beauty and elegance. Measurements: Width: 62 mm. Height: 78 mm.
