Beautiful antique pocket watch, Invar brand, with 18K gold case and quarter repeater. With contrasts in all its covers. The watch is a real gem made in Switzerland circa 1910. The gold case is lavishly decorated with beautiful hand engraved motifs on both the front and back covers. The watch has a quarter strike mechanism; the mechanism has been cleaned, adjusted and overhauled to ensure its perfect functioning. The front cover is decorated with a vertical striped engraving dotted with leaves, with a smooth shield in the center. Inside, we find the contrast, the stamp with the karat of gold (18K) and the serial number 251704. The watch face is white, with black Arabic numerals and straight hands of the same color. It bears the INVAR brand name printed on its upper part. The back cover, also in gold, has an engraved decoration similar to the previous one, but in this case without the coat of arms. On the inside it is covered with a color plate showing a rural landscape of the period. Under it rests the dust cover, on the front side of which we can see the medals awarded to the manufacturer in different events. On the inside of this cover are repeated the contrasts mentioned above, as well as the serial number. This wonderful antique and delicate gold watch with chime is an authentic jewel with more than a hundred years of history behind it. Measurements: Width: 50 cm.History of Invar watches The Invar watch brand was founded in 1901 by Achille Hirsch in the Swiss town of Le Chaux de Fonds. The word invar is actually the name of a metal alloy that hardly changes with temperature differences. It comes from the term invariable and was discovered by Charles Edouard Guillaume in 1896, for which he won the Nobel Prize in Physics. Achille Hirsch registered the trademark to manufacture watches with gears made of this material, so that anyone buying an Invar watch could be sure of the quality of the mechanism. Moreover, Hirsch was a very prolific businessman who registered hundreds of trademarks.
