Antique Pocket Watch with Calendar, 1890's

Gorgeous antique pocket watch with calendar and moon-phase dial. The watch was made in Switzerland in the 19th century (1890) and works fine though it gains around 15 minutes a day. The watch mounts a silvered metal case; the watch has front and rear caps and a glass dustcap. It is an elegant and fine piece whose movement has been cleaned and overhauled to provide a good working order. The watchs front cap has no decoration at all. Inside we can see a star-shaped hallmark and the serial number 40130 engraved in the metal. The piece that connects the casing with the crown bears another hallmark too. The rear cap, without any decoration too, hides the dustcap; as stated before, this delicate piece is made of glass and stands out for its originality. This cap protects the movement from the dust and the moisture. The watchs face is probably its most attractive feature. It is white and bears black Roman numbers, big-sized and stylish. It has a calendar composed of three dials: one for the days of the week, a second one for the days of the month and a third one for the months. The calendar is in good working order. The moon-phase motive is delicately hand-painted on the white face; though it is not operativer, it is a really beautiful and original detail. Anyway, it is a fine detail. This dial shows off a starred blue sky and a golden moon, delicately painted by hand and that stand out on the sober white background.
