Beautiful antique Longines pocket watch with solid-silver casing, made in Germany in 1900. The movement has been fully checked, cleaned and tuned so today the watch works perfectly. The silver casing bears front glass cap, original from the period and that makes it possible to see the white face with black Roman numbers. Printed over the fine golden filigree hands we can see the brand name LONGINES in clear black capital letters. The rear cap is made of solid silver and is decorated with a hand-engraved classic shield. Inside it bears several hallmarks and inscriptions that testify for the pieces quality. In the center we can see the Longines logo and brand name together with the silver proportion (0,800), the Swiss and German silver hallmarks and the serial number 1413705. The dustcap that appears under the rear cap shows a fine engraved decoration with the medals awarded to the manufacturer in different events. There are two inscriptions: GRAND PRIX PARIS 1900 and MAX RAUSCH BRAUNSCHWEIG. This cap is made of silver too and its inner face bears the hallmarks stated before. The watchs movement is also signed by Longines. Its timeless elegance and excellent working order turn this antique Longines pocket watch into a classic piece, designed to last. Measurements: Diameter: 48 mm.Longines History Longines is a watch manufacturing company that started out in the half of the 19th century, in a small workshop founded by Auguste Agassiz in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Agassizs nephew, Ernest Francillon, developed the business and chose the Longines brand name and the logo depicting a winged hourglass. This logo is the oldest current trade mark of the World Intellectual Property Organization. In 1867 Longines made their first movement and in 1868 they launched a movement that could be winded up by turning the watchs crown, so there was no need of a key. The firm has been official timekeeper in fourteen Olympic Games and in many sport events. Today Longines is part of the Swiss Swatch group.
