Grosclaude Antique Geneva Clock. Solid 18 K gold. Switzerland, 1900.

Wonderful 18-carat solid-gold and solid silver dial pocket watch with a striking design and great working order. The watch was made in Geneva, Switzerland and is signed by Grosclaude et Fils in the dustcap and the movement. It was made in 1900 and remains in amazing condition. The movement mounts 18 rubies and has been thoroughly cleaned and fine-tuned in order to guarantee a perfect operation. The watch bears different hallmarks in all its component parts that testify for the golds quality and carats (18K). The front cap is embellished with the classic guilloche grain-like engraved decoration. In the center there is a lovely classic shield, carefully engraved by hand with a remarkable attention to detail. The shield bears no inscriptions at all and is the perfect place to engrave the owners initials or a dedicatory. The front caps inner side bears the engraved 18K mark and serial number 19874. Under this cap we find the gorgeous silvery face with a complicated embossed decoration and golden metal details. It has black Roman numbers and straight cobalt-blue metal hands. The rear cap bears the same guilloche decoration as the front cap, but with no shield. Inside we can see the same inscriptions and hallmarks. If we lift this piece we will see the dustcap, decorated with different inscriptions with information about the watchs movement. Among them we can see the manufacturers name, Grosclaude et Fils; curiously enough, this dynasty of Swiss watchmakers had a workshop in Madrid until the 1970s. The shop sold watches, tools, component parts and metal accessories. Both the serial number and the manufacturers signature are also engraved in the watchs movement.
