Amazing antique Le Phare pocket watch with 18K solid-gold casing. This watch was made in Switzerland in the early 20th century and boasts a striking beauty, remaining in great condition too. The movement has been cleaned and overhauled to guarantee an optimal performance, which as well as boasting a lovely design and quite an ancient age, chimes the minutes. The gold casing is composed of three hand-engraved caps; the front and rear cap bear a delicate engraved pattern composed if tiny spirals. The front cap has a lean central circle to engrave the owners initials. This cap bears the 18K mark inside, together with part of the serial number (159) and the corresponding hallmark. Under it, the fine white dial has black Arab numerals and straight poire (pear) hands. It has a secondary hand and is signed G. Walth & Cie. The rear cap contains the same hallmarks and inscriptions with the complete serial number: 58159. Finally, the dustcap is engraved with the LE PHARE name and images of the medals awarded to the brand. If we lift this cap, underneath we will see the delicate movement protected by a glass pane. Weight: 105 g.Le Phare History Founded in 1888 in Le Locle, a village located in the Neuchâtel mountains (Switzerland), the Le Phare brand is one of the most prestigious in the Swiss watchmaking history. In 1889 the watches made by the Le Phare started being awarded the most eminent prizes. In fact, the firm was given the Gold Medal of the National Exhibition in 1896 and was later awarded the same prize at the Great Universal Exhibition in Paris. In 1897 they launched the silent regulator, a technical marvel that solved the problems of humming and got them the Gold Medal at the Paris Great Exhibition of 1900. In 1970 Le Phare became the second largest manufacturer of chronograph watches in Switzerland.
