Beautiful XVIII C. antique two casing verge fusee pocket watch by Hayward, seril number 1775 and well preserved. The watch is in working order though it has more than 200 years. This is a collectors watch, bound to be exhibited and admired rather than worn as a daily accessory. The movement is signed by Hayward and has been cleaned and fine-tuned. But probably the most remarkable feature of this watch (apart from its ancient age) is it double casing. The gold-metal casing can be covered by an original casing decorative and finely preserved. The metal casing bears no decoration at all. The gold-plated finish is in fine condition and looks shiny and even. As for the casing, it combines it's lovely material with golden parts that provide it with an elegant touch. Inside this casing we find two jewelers labels, probably related to ancient repairs. Both bear the same printed inscription, FRANK HILLSER THROWBRIDGE, the artisans name and business address. The inscription tells us that it was a silversmith, goldsmith, jewelry and watchmaking business and a noted shop for wedding and engagement rings. One of the label has golden lettering on a white background, while the second one has a red background. They are both well preserved. The watchs dial is white with black Roman numerals and cathedral-style golden hands. Around the numerals we can see the minutes in Arab numerals. The glass pane that protects the dial is the original one; it is complete and shows no cracks, though the surface shows signs of the trace of time. We have to take in consideration that this watch is a very antique piece with more than one hundred years old. The movement is also very attractive and remains in excellent condition. The crown wheel is a beautiful floral-filigree piece and the rest of the component parts are decorated with hand-engraved volutes. The manufacturers name HAYWARD is also finely engraved by hand. This antique two-casing verge clock by Hayward is a collectors piece, really gorgeous and fully original from the 18th century. Measurements: Metal Casing: Width: 42 mm. Thickness: 25 mm. Tortoiseshell Casing: 49.7 mm. Thickness: 27 mm.
