Awesome antique Genevan 18K-gold pocket watch with silver dial, made in Geneva, Switzerland circa 1900. Though this watch is more than one hundred years old, it remains in an almost flawless condition. The same can be said about its great working order: the watch keeps the time perfectly and works wonderfully. For the rest, this item stands out too for the superb hand-engraved decoration that covers the casing and provides it with a unique style, full of beauty and elegance. The front cap is decorated with a garland of flowers and volutes that frames the center. In the center there is a shield over a punctured background; the shield contains the hand-engraved initials of a former owner. Under this cap we find the watchs dial, a sumptuous solid-silver piece with gold-plated details shaped like leaves. The silver surface is completely covered with engraved motifs and there is not an only millimeter without decoration. The dial bears black Roman numerals and mounts straight paved hands. The rear cap is embellished with a similar engraved decoration, but in this case instead of a shield there is a composition of intertwined volutes framed by an ivy garland. Both caps stand out for their amazing carving work and attention to detail, revealing the hand of a real artist. If we lift the rear cap, we will find a gold dustcap that protects the movement. It is a fine piece with a delicately engraved and decorated surface. It contains some inscriptions with the watchmakers name and city (ETIENNE GENEVE), information about the movement and the serial number 11968. Inside the caps we find this number again, together with the gold carats (18k) and the goldsmiths mark. For its great beauty and flawless working order, this awesome 18K-gold Genevan pocket watch with silver dial will stand out in the best collection. Measurements: Width: 49 mm.
