Antique solid-silver pocket watch with calendar and moon phases, an amazing model made in France circa 1880. This watch is entirely original from the time. All the complications remain in perfect condition and so does the movement. At the casings sides we can see some pins which make it possible to set the time and the watchs complications. The dial includes secondary functions which mark the months day, the weeks day and the moon phases. The dial is made of solid silver and bears a fine decoration of engraved and gold-plated floral motifs. It is a gorgeous design, sumptuous and decorative. It bears black Roman numerals and spade hands, one of them paved (the one of the weekly calendar). The crown that frames the dial is embellished with hand-engraved volutes, a detail that enhances the watchs aesthetical power. The rear cap, also made of silver, is adorned with a simple and charming hand-engraved motif with a group of flowers to the right and a landscape with a house to the left. The landscape creates a great feeling of depth. At the center there is a non-engraved lean shield. If we lift the rear cap, inside we will see a hallmark with the image of a crab. It is an ancient French mark which identifies small silver objects. Together with the hallmarks there is a hand-engraved inscriptions with the name of a former owner, and the serial number 2773 too. We can see the crab hallmark again in the dustcaps inner side. Under this piece, the watchs movement stands out for its clean and precise construction. This superb antique solid-silver pocket watch with calendar and moon phases is a real jewel for its good working order and gorgeous design. Measurements: Width: 47 mm.
