Beautiful Nirvana International Antique Pocket Watch. Gold Plated. Circa 1900.

Beautiful antique Nirvana International pocket watch with gold-plated case, made in Switzerland circa 1900. The watch remains in perfect condition and shows scarcely signs of use: the gold-plated finish is wonderfully preserved and looks as shiny and even as the first day. The same can be said about the movement, quite clean and in fine working order; it keeps the time well. The movement bears a hand-engraved inscription reading NIRVANA INTERNTIONAL 15 JEWELS, which indicates that the watch mounts 15 rubies and states the name of the watchmaking company that constructed the movement. Nirvana International is quite an unknown brand; it seems to be a commercial brand name used by C. Robert & Cie, a watchmaker who worked in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The movement bears the engraved serial number 582866 too. The watchs dial is protected by the original glass cap. Is white in color and bears black Arab numerals and classic-style cobalt-blue paved hands. The rear cap is embellished with a fine hand-engraved decoration with a central shield on a guilloche background. Inside we can see the inscription WATCH CASE CO. ELGIN USA and the serial number 181544. This company was a manufacturer of watch cases which must not be mistaken with the Elgin National Watch Company, a direct competitor of the former located in the same city (Elgin, Illinois). The dustcap is also made of gold-plated metal, and looks even and in perfect condition. It inner side bears the engraved inscription THIS CASE IS GUARANTEED 10 YEARS and refers to the gold-plated finish. This cap hides and protects the watchs magnificent movement which stands out for its excellent condition and its and precision. This beautiful antique Nirvana International with gold-plated case is quite a remarkable piece for its delicate design and amazing condition and working order. Measurements: Width: 50 mm.
