Antique Nielloed-Silver Pocket Watch. Austria-Hungary, Circa 1900

Gorgeous antique nielloed-silver pocket watch with three caps made in Austria-Hungary circa 1900. The watch works very well. The case is made of solid silver with a fine nielloed finish that darkens some parts, creating lovely contrast and providing the engraved motifs with depth. The silvers origin, ancient age and quality is guaranteed by the hallmarks that we can find at the watchs crown. The case mounts three caps: front cap, rear cap and dustcap. The body is decorated with a hand-engraved Greek-inspired border, while the front cap bears a beautiful scene with two dogs walking through a wood. One of the dogs bears a pink-reddish gold-plated finish. The rear cap is embellished with a lovely hand-engraved country landscape. Inside the three caps we can see the serial number 65902. The dustcaps front side bears several engraved inscriptions in different types of lettering which describe some of the movements more relevant features. These inscriptions are adorned with delicate floral motifs and make up a charming decoration.
