Gorgeous antique sterling-silver two-casing verge pocket watch with movement signed by R. Shrivell and made in Brighton, England in 1846. This article is more than 150 years old and remains in great condition. The movement has been checked and today the watch works really well. It comes with an old-time winding and adjusting key. The watch has a solid-silver casing and is protected by a second casing, also made of silver. This second casing contains an old-time paper sheet with the merchants name and details about his business. At its rear cap we can see the hallmarks corresponding to antique English silver pieces and year of making (1846). We can also see the silversmiths mark with the initials JW and the London silver hallmark, a leopards head. The watch has a white dial with black Roman numerals and pear-type golden metal hands. The rear cap is made of silver and bears no decoration at all. It is greatly preserved and shows no dents, signs or wear or scratches. Inside this cap we can see the same hallmarks as those of the outer casing, together with the serial number 8012. The watchs gorgeous movement is profusely decorated with engraved volutes and openwork and bears several hand-engraved inscriptions: we can see the serial number stated before (Nº 8012) and the signature of R.
