Antique Omega solid-silver pocket watch made in Germany circa 1900. This watch is in good condition and works fine, preserving the classic beauty of old-time designs too. The caps bear Swiss and German hallmarks which indicate that it was made in Switzerland to be exported to Germany. The front cap is made of gold-plated silver and glass, and let us see the white dial with black Roman numerals. It mounts delicate Louis XV gold-plated hands and bears the inscription F. Helm WIEN in black lettering, corresponding to the name of the original distributor. The rear cap is adorned with a guilloche decoration and has a beautiful hand-engraved central shield. The shield is empty and contains no initials. If we lift this cap we can see the hand-engraved inscription in the dustcap: Für 25 Jährige Treue Dienste Fürst von Hess (Por 25 años de servicio leal - Fürst von Hess). The word fürst reveals a noble title used by the heads of Germanic dynasties. Inside the caps we can see the Swiss and German silver hallmarks, the silver proportion (0,800) and the serial number 4102730; on the other hand, the front cap also includes the brand logo and name, OMEGA. The movement bears the Greek letter ? (symbol of the watchmaking Brand) engraved in the movement. The prestige of the brand, its beauty and the interesting engraved inscription it contains turn this antique Omega solid-silver pocket watch into an exclusive piece, worthy to belong to the best collection. Dimensions: Width: 49 cm.Omega Watches - History Omega is one of the most renowned watchmakers in the world. It was founded in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, in 1848. Its founder was Louis Brandt. From then on and to this day (currently the brand belongs to the Swatch group), the firm has developed striking designs and movements that have spread its quality all over the world. In 1900 Omega got the Grand Prix in the Paris World Fair, and during the 20th century they became official timekeeper of the Olympic Games. The watch that wore the first man on the moon was also an Omega: the Omega Speedmaster that Neil Armstrong wore during the landing.
