Striking Antique silver quarter-repeating pocket watch, made in France in 1820 and finely preserved. The watch is in good working order and provides a clear and neat sound. It boasts a thin stylized design which combines silvered and gilt finishes. The outer case is composed of three silvered caps and a coin edged barrel. The rear cover is silver in color; its inner side has a small marking, illegible in the photos. It could be a small silver mark for France, where every town seems to have its own silver or gold mark. The design of the elongated stem on this globular silver pendant with two smaller spherules and round bow dates from the fist third of the 19th century. There is a gilt cuvette which bears no gold markings, nor silver markings. The watch has a white enameled dial with roman numerals, closed minute track, single aperture aligned with the 10-minute marker for key winding and gilt delicate antique Breguet hands. It has a very thin hairline which runs along part of the white surface, but is still scarcely visible. The movement mounts gilt brass plate, round skeletonized and foliate engraved balance bridge attached with two screws (used in France and Switzerland), going barrel, silver index regulator marked Avance/Retard and repeating system on a steel gong with visible shaped hammers, activated by depressing the pendant. The movement plate is not signed. An extraordinary collector's item that you will regret to let escape. Dimensions: Width: 58 mm.
