Antique Solid-Gold Pocket Watch Chain. With Two Garnet Stones. 19th Century

Fine antique solid-gold pocket watch chain with two garnet stones, made in the 19th century. This is an original piece with a gorgeous design and in really good condition. It is composed of two braided cords, both made up of tiny gold links and cylindrical in section. The cords are adorned with a gold barrette; this piece contains a polished black-and-red stone. The barrette shows of a fine engraved decoration of volutes, scrolls and parallel lines, stylish and delicate. At one end, the chain is trimmed with a ball and a snap link, designed to catch the watchs bow. At the other end the chain is connected to a series of gold links which end at a bar. The bar is embellished with two semiprecious stones (garnet stones). The bar, trimmed by two gold balls decorated with carved stars, is actually a winding key.
