Antique Swiss Jaques Coulin & Amy Bry Verge Fusee Pocket Watch. Circa 1785

Antique Swiss Jaques Coulin & Amy Bry verge fusee pocket watch with chatelaine, made circa 1785 and in fine condition. The watch is a charming and beautiful watch which combines a fine design and working order, with the gorgeous chatelaine. The watchs case mounts three brass caps adorned with hand-embossed motifs. The bezel is decorated with flowers and scrolls, while the rear cap shows an allegorical scene also surrounded by scrolls. Inside this cap we can see a watch paper with an astrological scheme, signed in the center with Italian names. The inner case is a two-body piece with a winding hole in the rear cap. There is a horizontal tripartite brass pendant and ovoid bow. Attached is the gilt brass chatelaine, with five gilt brass rococo strands along, two watch keys and two lockets. The strands are suspended from the gilt brass, C scroll and red stone ornament, located at the top of the chatelaine and decorated with a land/seascape scene at the bottom. Returning to the watch, it has a white enamel dial with bold radial Roman hour numerals, closed bar outer minute track and Arabic five-minute markers placed around the periphery. There are extraordinary fenestrated silvered hands in a rococo 18th-century Frenchstyle, with rosette at the center decorated with small diamond chips. The dial is signed, JAQ COULIN, AMY BRY. Jacques Coulin & Amy Bry, Geneva Jacques Coulin (1744-1812), Amy Bry (1750-1830) and Jean Flournoy (1727-1811) were associates in Geneva, between 1782 to 1799 The watchs movement is composed of matte gilt pieces and gears, with ornate pierced foliate balance bridge attached with two screws. It mounts fusee with chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance and flat balance spring, with silver regulation dial adjacent. The back plate is engraved for the watchmakers, Ja Coulin & Amy Bry, a Geneva, no 4501. The movement is in excellent condition and fully functioning. Dimensions: Width: 50 mm.
