Antique solid-silver Allen Walker pair-case verge fusee pocket watch, made in England circa 1751 and in good condition. It mounts a double silver casing; the outer case is an oignon-type model with engraved vegetal-inspired decoration. The rear cap is adorned with a repousse scene in base relief. The scene involves a young man who has just dismounted from his horse at the right, with an elderly couple, perhaps his parents. The inner case has a polished-silver rear cap, with the English hallmarks and the silversmiths mark inside. It contains the initials DR, probably belonging to Daniel Rust. It has silver bulbous pendant and two spherules flanking a round bow. At the front side, the glass cap lets us see a white porcelain dial with black Roman numerals and a closed arcaded minute ring with Arabic markers placed every five minutes around the circumference of the dial. The fenestrated gilt hands are in the French 18th-century style. The dial is marked, Walker, London. The movement is made of brass, with brass solid plate movement with the dial and rear plates separated by tapered four-sided brass Egyptian pillars. There is a verge escapement and a chain-driven fusee movement. The rear plate has a skeletonized foliate-designed balance bridge with central rosette. The bridge is connected by two trapezoidal brass ears with screws, typical of a Dutch balance cock made circa 1800. The movement is signed on the back plate, Allen Walker, London, 14149. An elegant and authentic piece, this antique solid-silver Allen Walker pair-case verge fusee pocket watch stands out for its good working order and attractive look. Dimensions: Width: 50 cm.
