Antique Verge-Fusee Pocket Watch. 2 Gilt Cases. John Eiveu, London, 1789

Antique verge-fusee pocket watch with 2 gilt-metal cases made by John Eiveiu in London in 1789. The watch shows a stylized and simple design with double gilt-metal cases and is in working order. The gilt finish of the outer case is somewhat worn, while the one of the inner case is well preserved; the rear cap of this case has two engraved initials inside. The dial is made of white porcelain and has black Arabic numerals and fine gilt ‘skeleton-type’ hands. The movement is entirely covered with hand-engraved motifs - gorgeous vases, flowers and scrolls all over its component parts. Among these motifs we can see the watchmaker’s signature, John Eiveu, and city of location, London. We also discover the year of manufacture, 1789, and a serial number engraved in a complex gothic-style lettering.

This antique verge-fusee pocket watch with 2 gilt-metal cases by John Eiveiu is an extremely elegant item more than 200 years old.
