Antique Verge-Fusee Pocket Watch. Double Casing and Silver Key. J. Richards, London, 1785

Exceptional antique verge-fusee pocket watch with double casing and silver key, made by J. Richards in London in 1785. This piece is more than two hundred years old and has survived to our days in fine condition and good working order. The outer casing shows a fine embossed decoration – the rear cap is engraved with a rural scene depicting some kind of celebration. In the center, a young woman is crowned by a figure while another figure kneels in front of her. To the left, a kid plays with a dog. The inner case mounts a white dial with black Roman numerals and ‘poire’ cobalt-blue metal hands. Inside, the rear cap has some hallmarks, among them the one corresponding to London, 1785. The fine-looking and complex movement, very well preserved, is signed by hand with the name and address of the watchmaker: J. Richards, No. 810, London. The watch comes with its original key, a lovely antique silver piece with hand-engraved decoration.

As gorgeous as authentic, this amazing antique verge-fusee pocket watch with double casing and silver key made by J. Richards will stand out in any collection or as part of the most stylish outfit.
