Valuable English pocket watch made in the late 18th century (circa 1780), in great condition and perfect working order. This pocket watch is made of brass, boasting a sober design where the face stands out thanks to its beautiful golden filigree needles. The beauty of the watchs design is just similar to its movements accurate working; the watch has been revised and adjusted and works like new. The movement is in quite good condition and bears the signature of the watchmaker. This movement is called catalino meaning Catherine type; this is due to its wheel shape, related to the wheel of torture where Saint Catherine was martyred. The watchs face is wide and white with fine black colored numbers. It shows no hairlines or relevant flaws. The needles are lovely, with their openwork design made up of volutes and curves. The simplicity of the brass ring that frames the face makes a nice contrast with the needles complex design and enhances the watchs beautiful look. If we open the watch and reveal the movement we will discover the elegant watchmakers signature: Ph. Whitt, London. We can also see the serial number: N 7554. Both inscriptions are engraved with an aristocratic and fine calligraphy, according to the intrinsic beauty of the movement. They are on the left, while the right side is profusely decorated with vegetal inspired motives. The watch has a chain movement, quite rare and special. This kind of movements has a slim chain similar to that of bicycles, which communicate the wheels and make the watch work. All the movements components are original and in perfect condition. The watch also keeps the original key for winding the watch, made also of golden brass and with a little engraved detail at the top. All these features turn this English pocket watch in a valuable and exclusive collectors piece, perfect for any lover of antique watches.Measurements: Diameter: 46 mm.
