Gold Pocket Watch, Ca. 1860s

Exclusive vintage Swiss pocket watch made of first-quality solid gold around 1860. All the caps, includin the dust cap, are made of gold. This watch is wonderfully preserved, and as well as being in perfect working order is a very special piece because of the nice engraved decoration that embellishes it. The watch has a hallmark located in the linkage between the winding stem and the box, which guarantees the quality of the noble metal it is made of. The front cap bears an engraving of a flat shield in the center, which is designed to bear the owners initials, while the rear cap shows a nice engraving of a vase surrounded by grapes and fig leaves. Both motives are inserted into oval frames with decorated with classical fringes, while the background is profusely adorned with delicate vegetal-inspired embossed motives.The watchs face is white with black Arabic number and delicate golden openwork needles. Around the face we can see the typical circular frame that contains some numbers indicating the minutes. Under the needles we can see a subsidiary second hand. The face is in perfect condition, with no hairlines or flaws. If we turn the watch and open it we will see the dust cap, which boast a series of elegant inscriptions in different kind of letterings. The word ANCRE stands for a Swiss lever movement which was typical of the movements from the end of the 19th century. BALANCIER COMPENSE means that the watch has Breguet overcoil hairspring, while CHATON is a way of attaching jewels to the movement. We can also see that the watch has 16 rubies and the serial number, 69958.It we lift the dust cap that protect the movement and take a look at it, we will see that it is wonderfully preserved and will also be able to see the different rubies that are part of the delicate mechanism. In the movement we distinguish two levers with the words AVANCE and RETARD finely engraved in the metal. The whole watch is in excellent condition and has been fully revised and adjusted to guarantee a perfect working order.
