Wonderful vintage valve radio made in 1934 in mahogany wood. The radio is model Philips 736A. It is a really beautiful and decorative radio, thanks to its classical art deco design and to the lovely mahogany wood it is made of. The wood shows a nice combination of veneers in different directions. It has also an elegant inlay work, which decorates the front and the sides. These details are also enhanced by the open work in front of the speaker, square-shaped and with slightly curved sides. This radio is in perfect working order and can be operated at 220V, so it is a really interesting device. The wood retains the original varnish in excellent condition, while the two bakelite knobs show no sign of wear or cracks. The components are original and made by Philips, which increases the pieces interest. The style of the radio is typical of the 30s decade of the 20th century. It is an art deco design that shows the characteristic straight and severe lines of this style of decoration. At the rear, the radio has a grey plywood plate which can be removed to get to the mechanism. The plate has drawings explaining how the different connections work. It has also an opening through which we can see a metal plate with the name PHILIPS, the kinf (736A) and the number of fabrication of the radio (nº 7009). All these details turn this beautiful vintage radio into a highly decorative piece, whose beauty and age are reason enough as to be shown off in the most elegant room or study. Radio measurements: 380 mm width x 395 mm height.
