Original Philips Radio 834-A of the year 1933. Works Perfectly. 220 V.

Attractive radio, model 834 A, made by Philips brand in 1933, with the typical style of those years. It is a charming vintage radio which is in good condition and works perfectly, providing an excellent sound. All its pieces and parts are original, even the golden ochre-colored tissue which covers the speaker. Philips is one of the most prestigious companies in the field of electronics and audio, and it was founded in Eindhoven in 1891 by Gerard Philips with the intention of making incandescent lamps and other electrical products. This elegant radio is made of metal sheet, which has been painted simulating wood with great skill. The radio shows a reddish brown color with darker shades, and the peculiar material it is made of goes together with its original shape to make up a very curious and attractive item. The box is triangular and has rounded corners, and it stands on a wooden base painted black. In the front part we can see the circular opening for the speaker, through which the sound comes out; this opening is crossed by five straight metal strips, somewhat inclined. Under the speaker we can see the dial, flanked by two knobs made of black bakelite. At the rear there is a plywood board that can be removed to access the valves. On this board there are some printed white drawings which show the different connecting options of the device. It we remove the screws that attach the board to the box, we will see the inside mechanism with all the original parts and valves. There are labels with the letters Ph fixed to the valves, which indicate that they are authentic Philips components. Under the mechanism there is a metal plate with the type of the radio (834A) and the serial number (1197F). This radio has long and medium wave reception, but not FM. It works perfectly and does not need a transformer. It is undoubtedly a lovely vintage article which will be the perfect complement to decorate a very special room.
