This lovely antique radio with solid oak wooden casing and top loudspeaker is a Lamplugh model original from the 1920s. It is a 2-valve model with hexagonal RCA speaker and in great condition. The radio is a battery-operated piece; inside it has adapted in order to store the new batteries. The radio works perfectly and makes it possible to listen to different stations, providing a wonderful quality sound thanks to the striking speaker that comes with it.The dark oak wood the casing is made of has been carefully restored. The satin finish that embellishes and protects the wood shines now in all its glory. If we lift the top cover, we will see that its inner face there is a lovely colorful decal. The decal remains in great condition as if the years had not passed by. Lamplugh Radios Ltd. was a company created by Sydney A. Lamplug in the early 20th century; it was probably one of the founding companies who started the famous BBC.As for the radios design, is really gorgeous. The front panel is slowly sloped in order to make the operation of the controls easier. It mounts black bakelite knobs and a lovely dial with a golden needle. The front-side panels are decorated with dark diamond-shaped carved pieces. On the other hand, the loudspeaker is octagonal in shape and includes a lovely cloth with a hand-embroidered motive depicting a vase with flowers. It was made by RCA and mounts solid wood frame and stand with hand-carved decoration.
