German Dual Party Valve Record Player from the 60s. Perfect working order.

This charming record player from the 1960s is a very singular piece, perfect to decorate a living room because of its unmistakable retro look so fashionable nowadays. It is a Dual Party model, made in Germany and that has survived to our days in magnificent condition. The record player has an embodied loudspeaker and works wonderfully, being able to play vinyl records of every rpm: 78, 43, 45 and 16. To do so, just by the turntable there is a selector with blue and red enameled numbers and a plastic piece to point the rpm needed to play the chosen record.Dual is an old and prestigious company founded in St. Georgen (Germany) in 1907 by Christian and Joseph Steidinger. The firm produced clockwork and gramophone parts. In 1927 the name Dual was adopted in reference to the dual-mode power supplies they made allowed gramophones to be powered from electricity or with a wind-up mechanism. Soon after they started to produce their own record players, and after World War II Dual was the biggest turntable producer of all Europe. In the 1970s, with the arriving of Japanese competitors to the European market Dual underwent a big crisis and went bankrupt in 1982, being acquired by Thompson SA. Dual is currently split into two firms, one of them owned by German company Fehrenbacher and that still manufactures traditional record players in St. Georgen. This great record player is one of the different versions of the Dual Party model. One of its most interesting features is that the speaker is embodied into the turntable, instead of being part of the cover as usual. The design is compact and functional, and its simplicity turns it into a smart article. The record payer is mostly made of plastic parts in grey, beige and black colors; they are all in good condition and so is the cover. At the back of the item we can see a label with instructions in German and diagrams, and a plate with the models number: Dp300VX.
