This golden brass and glass liturgical cruet set is an exclusive piece for ecclesiastical use, in excellent condition. The cruets were made in France in the first quarter of the 20th century and come with a golden brass tray. The set is elegant and stylish, perfect to become part of a good collection of religious antiques or to be used as a decorative detail. The cruets are identical and preserve the original glass, transparent and neat. They have brass bases with delicate embossed decoration; the glass recipients stand on them. These recipients are decorated with a brass string at the bottom, shaped like a rope. From this string emerges the handle, also rope-like designed and ended with an animals head at the top, probably a snake. The beast opens its jaws to clasp another brass piece that surrounds the glass neck; this joint closes the handle. The brass lid is attached to the top of the handle by a small hinge. The lids bear engraved in the metal, with antique-style capital letters, the words AQUA and VINUM, water and wine in Latin. At the top they both have a crowning piece decorated with a carved glass piece. The cruet for the wine bears a red glass, and the water cruet bears a colorless glass piece. They are both original. On the other hand, the fine tray where the cruets stand on is lobe-shaped and quite deep. It has two small vertical rods that can be inserted into the cruets bases to provide them with stability. The trays border boasts a wonderful bas-relief decoration composed of stylized classical vegetal-inspired motives. Delicately made and beautifully design, this cruet set will delight all the lovers of the finest antiques. Measurements: Width: 11.4 in / 29 cm. Height: 6.6 in / 17 cm.
