Fine golden brass liturgical cruet set preserving the original transparent lacquered finish and with their carrying tray. The set is decorated with colorful hand-painted enameled motives, all of them well preserved and depicting lovely vegetal-inspired motives. This liturgical set dates from the 19th century and is complete and in good condition. The cruets and the tray also bear an attractive hand-engraved decoration composed of wine-related vegetal motives (as wine is transformed into Jesus Christs blood in the Eucharist). Each cruet bears an enameled motive at the front. Both motives are similar they are painted in dark red, green and blue enamels and depict bunches of grapes in the grapevine. At the center of each design we can see a letter with a ribbon below, both painted in indigo-blue enamel. The wine cruet bears a V (Vinum is the Latin for wine) and the cruet designed to contain water bears an A (Aqua for water). The motives are complete and boast an impeccable condition: their bright colors, fine design and delicate making turn them into very elegant details. The cruets handles show the same design: a slim branch with a flower at the end and a small leave emerging at the top. The lids are adorned with embedded carved-glass stones. The wine cruet bears a dark red glass and the water cruet, a colorless transparent glass. Both stones are original and remain perfectly fixed. On the other hand, the tray is decorated with fine hand-engraved motives depicting grapevines and reeds (this plant is closely related to Christian tradition). At the center we can see a delicate dark-red and green enameled motive: a fringe composed of grapes and fig leaves with a central blue symbol.Measurements (Complete Set): Width: 9 in / 23 cm.
