Fantastic set of solid silver chalice and paten. With contrasts. Period case.

Awesome antique sterling-silver chalice accompanied by a paten made of the same material. Both the chalice and the paten remain in great condition. They were made in France in the 19th century and preserve the impressive beauty of antique religious pieces. The set comes in an old-time case, perfect to store them and keep them protected. The silver bears hallmarks that testify for its quality and ancient age: this detail turns the set into an exclusive piece, worthy of the best collection. The chalices design is simple and elegant, with a decoration reduced to the minimum. The original gold-plated finish shown off by this piece is quite remarkable: it is scattered in different zones perfectly defined by engraved lines. The base is circular and ample, conical in shape and quite stylized. It is embellished by an octagonal shape that reminds us of a star. There are also small vegetal motives, quite schematic. The decoration is very simple and its little presence increases the purity of the chalices design. If we turn this piece upside down, in the center of the base we will see the engraved number 120 accompanied by a hallmark. The stem has two nodes of different sizes with gold-plated sections. Over them rests the cup, also decorated in this same way. By the cups edge there are two hallmarks one is shaped like a diamond and contains the letters FES. Differently from the chalice, the paten shows off an amazing hand engraved decoration: a circular fringe depicting a twisted branch with flowers and leaves. The fringe surrounds a fine central Greek cross, also decorated with vegetal motives. The paten has two hallmarks close to its border. The set comes in its protecting case, outside covered by black faux-leather and with a red felt lining inside.
