Beautiful solid silver ciborium, antique and in very good conservation state . Its an ecclesiastical piece that was manufactured in France in the early nineteenth century and decorated with beautiful reliefs alluding to the Eucharist and the Catholic cult. The ciborium is of great size and beauty and its hallmarked in all its parts. The hallmarks that we can see in the silver correspond to those used in France between the years 1819 and 1838. These marks testify for the pieces quality and origin, and provide it with interest and authenticity. The silver boasts a delicately gold-plated surface with a well-preserved tone. At the base we can see three beautiful reliefs symbolic of the Eucharist Catholic: the Sacred Heart, with the crown of thorns, the fire that surrounds it and the cross that stands; the Paschal Lamb and the pelican feeding its young. The reliefs are separated by other symbols alluding to the Eucharist: the grapes (wine) and the ears of wheat (bread) and junks. Surrounding the cup appear again the ears of wheat (related to bread that is stored in the ciborium in the form of communion wafers. The central knot is decorated with reliefs of flowers. The ciborium carries hallmarks at the base, the lid and the cup. In general it is very well preserved since it has almost 200 years. As the only damage, the edge of the cup has two cracks about 2-3 mm, which that are hidden by the cover and are easily repairable by a silversmith, but not really necessary. They can be seen in the last photo. This is a magnificent ciborium, a worthy piece of a great museum of sacred art. Measurements: Cup Width: 14 cm. - 5.5 in. Base width: 16 cm - 6.3 in.
