Beautiful antique golden brass monstrance, in very good condition and with its original storing case. This piece was made in France in the 19th century and really lacks nothing. The careful decoration that adorns the sunburst (top part of the monstrance) is very remarkable, with its fine embossed motifs related to the Four Evangelists and the sparkling carved-crystals that frame the opening for the luna. The rest of the piece is profusely embossed with vegetal-inspired shapes and moldings, creating an item with a singular power of attraction. The monstrances foot is circular in shape and is supported by small leave-shaped legs. It is decorated with wavy motifs, symmetrical and abstract, and with vegetal-inspired motifs. Over the base, the stem and the nodes boast the same complex and baroque decoration. The sunburst is a really remarkable piece, especially for the six medallions containing the symbols of the Four Evangelists (the lion, the angel, the ox and the eagle) and the images of two angels carrying ribbons. As stated before, framing the luna we can see a series of carved white crystals that provide the piece with sumptuousness and beauty. The luna is original from the time and remains in good condition. Surrounding this set we can see a series of brass pieces that look like sunbeams and create a spectacular effect. Just like many others, this monstrance is crowned by a sober Latin cross attached to the top of the sunburst. The storing case, on the other hand, is in good condition and has a sticker with the name of the goldsmith THIERY: This outstanding antique golden brass monstrance will shine in any room, study or collection of religious art.
