Outstanding antique gold-plated solid-silver chalice, with turquoise-blue and white enamel decoration and precious stones. It is dated in the 19th century and was made in Lyon, France. The chalice comes with a fine paten, also made of enameled silver; both items can be stored in an antique case. This is a really magnificent piece with a remarkable design and a careful elegance. It bears the French silver hallmark and the mark of the silversmith Louis Guillat. The neo-gothic design of the chalice boasts a charming medieval style combined with an elaborated decoration. The lobed base is profusely adorned with hand-carved motifs and floral-inspired embossed details, enhanced with blue and white enamel. Up the stem, the main node stands out for its size and its enameled decoration: a blue band with a Latin inscription in golden lettering, reading Hic Est Enim Calix Sanguinis Mei (This is the chalice of my Blood). This band is also embellished with tree diamond-shaped carved stones (pink spinels or sapphires). The hand-engraved decoration covers the rest of the stem until the point where it meets the cups base. The decoration of this part is similar to that in the chalices foot: it is composed of bands and fringes decorated with blue and white enamel. The rest of the cup is made of gold-plated lean silver; the stated hallmarks are located near the edge. The paten is made of gold-plated solid silver too and boasts a simple decoration: a central cross surrounded by leaves. The cross is embellished with red and blue enamel, while the leaves are painted in two shades of green. This antique gold-plated silver chalice with enameled parts and precious stones is as spectacular as unique. It is real exclusive piece with a remarkable power of attraction.
