Fine antique solid silver chalice and paten in gold-plated and lean silver. This liturgical silversmiths set comes from France where it was made circa 1900. Both pieces are more than one hundred years old and has survived to our days in wonderful condition, as we can appreciate in the images. The chalice is a simple and small-sized item, but its lovely combination of gold-plated and lean silver and its balanced design turn it into an attractive timeless piece. The chalices foot is ample and circular in shape. It has a conical design which creates a harmonious design. At the front of the foot we can see a delicate gold-plated silver cross: the arms ends are shaped like fleur-the-lys and make up a stylish shape. The stem bears an only circular node, simple and with no decoration. The cup is equally simple in design: the gold-plated outside finish makes up a fine contrast with the lean silver of the foot and the stem. Close to the cups edge we can see the hallmark that usually marks ancient French silver pieces. It is the only mark of the chalice. Nevertheless, the whole piece has been tested and the results indicate it is entirely made of quality solid silver. On the other hand, the paten bears hallmarks too: the one for French silver pieces and a diamond with the initials PN. This piece is decorated with an engraved Greek cross that covers its surface. This antique solid silver chalice and paten set is a charming and gorgeous item which will shine anywhere for its elegant and sober design. Measurements: Foot´s Width: 3.72 in / 9.3 cm.
