Gorgeous antique Neapolitan solid-silver monstrance made in Naples, Italy between 1824 and 1832. This is quite a rare piece, a very special model with the great quality and beauty displayed by ancient Neapolitan silver pieces. The monstrance was made by P. Sisino, a member of the so-named family of silversmiths that worked in Naples between the late 18th and the early 19th centuries. We can see a hallmark with the letters P. SNO. at the pieces foots, clearly marked in the silver surface. Overall this monstrance is in amazing condition except for a small flaw at the wing of one of the central angels. Nevertheless, this detain scarcely interferes with the pieces great looks and aesthetic potential. The monstrance is completely made of solid silver. Some of its parts are made of brass whose color makes them stand out: the ball over which the angels stand and the flaming heart they hold. The figures at the foot also show a subtle golden patina, just like the sunrays that frame the gap for the lunette. This piece is missing but it could be easily replaced. The rest of the monstrance is made of lean silver; it makes a fine and balanced contrast with the gold-plated parts. This beautiful contrast is enhanced by the red and green glass beads, a fine detail that turns this monstrance into a rare and lovely piece. The base is conical in shape and stands on three curved legs, which give it a very stylish look. It is decorated with engraved plant motifs over its entire surface. On both sides two beautiful silver figures are seated, representing two saints with their attributes. One of them is carrying a chalice with the Holy Form on it and a cross, while the other is holding an anchor. At the top of the cone are two lion heads that adorn the sides. Above them stands the shaft, the central part of the monstrance, where a ball holds two angels who carry a heart; above the heart is the silver sun, in the centre of which is the virile. The monstrance has contrasts in all its parts; at the base we can also see a hand-engraved motif representing the Sacred Heart. As rare as it is beautiful, this ancient Neapolitan monstrance in solid silver is a true collector's item that stands out for its magnificent silverwork. Measurements: Base: Width: 23 cm. Depth: 16 cm. Width of the Sun: 33 cm. Height: 76 cm. Weight: 3360 g.
