Rare antique solid-silver liturgical cruet set with bell, made in Barcelona in the 19th century. This is a very special item: these sets are quite difficult to find. Big in size, the cruets draw our attention for their great design and fine decoration. The bell that comes with the set is not the original one, but it was added later; it is made of solid silver too and is embellished with tiny colored crystals orderly disposed over all its surface. The combination of silver and colored crystal makes up a charming piece, gorgeous and delicate. The whole set sits on a tray; at the bottom, the tray bears the hallmarks corresponding to the city of Barcelona and the period (late 19th century). The tray is adorned with hand-carved embossed motifs depicting cherubs heads, wheat stalks, bunches of grapes, reeds and roses. At the top we can see the Holy Shroud with the face of Jesus Christ, and the sides are adorned with the attributes of the Martyrdom. The cruets are also decorated with hand-engraved symbols: we can see a trumpet of the Final Judgement and a group of three lances, among others. They are adorned with floral motifs and angels heads too. The water cruet mounts a white crystal stone and the wine cruet, a red one. As well as the hallmarks, they also bear a zigzag mark usually found in antique Spanish silver pieces. Any lover of religious silverwork will appreciate the beauty and the original quality of this rare antique solid-silver liturgical cruet set with bell.
