Antique Gold-Plated Solid-Silver Paten. France, 19th Century

Antique gold-plated solid-silver paten, made in France in the 19th and in good conditions and is decorated with a high-relief Greek cross surrounded by four hand-engraved inscriptions with names of saints in Latin: S. Teresia, S. Yvona, S. Andreas and Mater Dulcis (Sweet Mother, corresponding to Virgin Mary). In the middle there is an engraved Crismon, an anagram of Christ with the two first letters of His Greek name: XP. There is a series of straight lines starting in that point that depict sunrays and provide the decoration with a fine effect. Close to the patens border we can see the silvers hallmarks, somewhat worn. This fine antique gold-plated solid-silver paten is the perfect piece to complement a great chalice of the same level.
