Antique gold-plated solid-silver ciborium made in France in the 19th century. This striking piece of religious art is in an exceptional condition. The gold plating is very well preserved and the same can be said about the silver itself, which shows no flaws or scratches. The ciborium is decorated with handmade reliefs which depict the classic Eucharistic symbols: the wheat stalks and the bunches of grapes, symbolizing the Bread and the Wine of this celebration. The flower-shaped ciboriums base is quite ample and is completely covered by these embossed symbols, just like the main node, the sub-cup and the lid, crowned by a fine silver cross. At the cups edge and the base, we can see the hallmark which identify antique French silver pieces and the silversmiths mark. There is no visible hallmark on the lid, but it is also solid silver. This superb antique gold-plated solid silver ciborium is the perfect piece to shine in a good collection of religious art, but also to fulfill its duty on an altar.
