Antique silver and silver-plated metal chalice made in France circa, 1818, in really good condition and accompanied by a solid-silver paten. The chalices cup is made of silver, while the stem and the base are made of metal. The whole piece remains in very good condition. The chalices foot is circular in shape and is decorated with a fine and simple vegetal-inspired motif, with a geometrical design. The stem has a main node adorned with a similar decoration, just smaller in size. On the other hand, the cup bears no decoration at all and shows some hallmarks near the edge. The hallmarks are clearly marked in the metal and give us clues about the country of origin (France) and other details, such as the date of making and the silversmith. As for the paten, it is made of gold-plated silver and bears its own hallmarks too. The only decorative detail of this piece is a very simple Greek cross, engraved by hand. This antique silver and silver-plated metal chalice will stand out for its elegant design in any collection of religious art. Dimensions: Chalice: Foots Width: 5.12 in / 13 cm. Height: 10 in / 25 cm.
