Amazing huge antique solid-silver ciborium made in the Netherlands in 1897 and in fine condition. The ciborium comes in a modern storing case, custom-made and perfect to preserve and transport the item. It bears hallmarks in different parts which testify for the silvers quality and the origin and ancient age of the piece. The chalices decoration is composed of symmetrical vegetal-inspired embossed volutes with a punctured texture which makes a fine contrast with the shiny lean silver base. The node is embellished with winged cherubs heads; over it we can see the big-sized gold-plated silver cup. This part is supported by a sub-cup adorned with engraved bunches of grapes in the vine. The lid which crowns the piece bears a fine Latin cross on top and is decorated with the same embossed volutes as the foot. Inside the cup is slightly scratched but it still preserves the original gorgeous gilded finish. Near the cups edge we can see four hallmarks, some of which can also be seen at the lid and the foot. This huge solid-silver ciborium, with a fine storing case and big in size, is an exclusive piece worthy of a museum of ancient silverware. Dimensions: Foots Width: 6.3 in / 16 cm.
