Almost New Modern Brass Chalice. Late 20th Century

Gorgeous modern second-hand gilt metal chalice made in the late 20th century and with paten. The two pieces are entirely made of this metal, including the cup. The set comes in a superb storing case covered with red velvet inner lining. The case is probably the original one. The chalice is short and compact, with an elegant design quite popular in the late 20th century. The chalice bears no decoration, except at the node; this part is composed of a series of identical fish disposed around the stem, quite realistic and creating a singular and original composition. The fish is a typical Christian symbol: it appears in several miracles and was adopted by the first Christians as a proclamation of faith. The chalices foot and cup bear no decoration, but the brass has been hammered in order to boast an interesting texture which reminds us of the rippling on a water surface. The paten is lean, and just like the chalice it is in great condition.
